Student achievement reflects the program's commitment to excellence. Sport Law students were the first undergraduate team to compete in the Tulane International Baseball Arbitration Competition, finishing in the top third of the field among top Law and MBA program participants. Students advanced to the semifinals of the Tulane International Fútbol Negotiation Competition and more recently competed in the Tulane Professional Basketball Negotiation Competition under the guidance of a leading sports agent at William Morris Endeavor.
While at Rice, students in the concentration have published in the Harvard Undergraduate Law Review, formed the NIL Education & Support Team (N.E.S.T.) to support Rice student-athletes as they navigate NCAA rule changes related to name, image, and likeness, and completed internships with some of the most influential organizations in sports, including William Morris Endeavor and FIFA 2026 World Cup.
The achievements of Sport Law students demonstrate the impact of the program both during and after their time at Rice. Recent graduates have earned admission to Harvard Law School, Georgetown Law, the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, and Columbia University's Master of Science in Sport Management program, while another received a full-tuition scholarship to the University of Texas School of Law.
Whether students aspire to law school, front-office leadership, athlete representation, or careers in sport governance, the Sport Law Concentration provides the legal foundation and practical and operational experience to help them succeed.
