Q: Is it possible to earn a Master's degree in Sport Management from Rice University?
A: No. Rice University only offers an undergraduate degree in Sport Management and Sport Analytics. We focus all of our time and resources to being the most respected undergraduate Sport Management department in the world.

Q: How is Rice University ranked against other universities in the USA?
A: There are thousands of colleges and universities in the United States. U.S. News & World Report in its rankings of the "Top Schools" in 2023 rated Rice University as No. 15 in the country. Rice was listed ahead of schools such as Notre Dame, Berkeley, and NYU. Rice was also the highest ranked university in the country with a Sport Management major.

A: Rice University is ranked No. 8 on Kiplinger's 2010-2018 list of best values among private universities and colleges.

Q: What are some of the awards the Department of Sport Management hands out each year?
A: Each year the Department of Sport Management hands out four (4) awards. The Lindsay Roemmich Sport Management Achievement Award is given to the graduating senior who best exhibits (1) academic excellence, (2) external sport management experience, (3) positive attitude, and (4) dedication to improving the Rice Sport Management Program. Our department considers the "Roemmich Award" the highest honor bestowed upon a graduating Sport Management major. The Jesse Tsu Sport Management Academic Achievement Award is given to the graduating senior(s) who have the highest cumulative grade point average within the department. The Patrick K. Thornton Memorial Award is given each semester to the major who has the highest grade in our Sport Law (SMGT 364) class. Finally, the Jimmy Disch Sport Analytics Award is given to the graduating senior who has shown a strong commitment to academic excellence, while also earning exceptional practical experience in, the sport analytics field throughout their time at Rice.

Q: How do I gain admission to the program?
A: First, you have to be accepted to Rice University. Once accepted to Rice, you have freedom to choose any major. If you are interested in majoring in either Sport Management or Sport Analytics, please contact the program director, Professor Clark Haptonstall at hapton@rice.edu, to get more information and to set up a meeting to discuss program requirements.
