William Roberts ’17 has recently been hired by Peak Sports MGMT working as an Account Executive.
Roberts, who is from the small town of Sanderson, TX, came to Rice University in 2012 and was a member of the men’s track & field team. While at Rice, Roberts had internships with SMG and the National Athletics League. After graduating, Roberts served as the Volunteer Assistant Track & Field coach at Rice. During this time, he realized that coaching wasn’t his long-term goal and saw potential in sales.
Next, Roberts worked with MLS team FC Dallas, for five months, with the goal of getting into sponsorship sales. Rice Sport Management professor, Tom Stallings, put Roberts in contact with Peak Sports MGMT where he was recently hired and started on January 1, 2019.
“Peak is set up for young people to excel,” says Roberts. “I was able to make an immediate impact.”
Roberts currently lives in Canyon, TX, and is representing Peak Sports MGMT at West Texas A&M University. He focuses solely on this university to help it meet sponsorship sales goals and increase revenue. While he enjoys his job and looks to climb within the company, he is grateful for the things he learned during his time at Rice.
“The biggest thing that Rice and the Department or Sport Management did for me was make me ready to contribute to an organization,” Roberts said. “I knew it was right for me.”
Nick Duggan, a junior from San Antonio, Texas, is double-majoring in Sport Management and Economics.
