Meredith Gamble was one of six Rice University Sport Management majors to receive Conference USA Academic Medals for posting a 3.75 GPA or higher during the 2011-2012 academic year. The six students include Stephen Noh (football), Victoria Rellas (soccer), Michael Neusslein (tennis), Laurie McNamara (volleyball), Jordan Meredith (volleyball), and Gamble (track & field).
In all, Rice had 38 student-athletes that earned C-USA Academic Medals. There were a total of 538 student-athletes from the conference this year, which was up from last year’s total of 485.
“It’s always a great feeling to be recognized for your hard work,” Gamble said. “Being a student-athlete at Rice exposes you to a culture that strives for both athletic and academic excellence. I’m very honored to receive this award and to be competing for Rice University.”
Meredith shows her dedication not only on the field, but in the classroom as well, which is paying big dividends for her future. She will be going to New York City this summer for an internship with Bank of America Merrill Lynch. There she will be working in investment banking learning about global markets and trade/sales.
