Rice students line up a host of summer internships around the country

Rice Sport Management students are out of school and are looking forward to starting new opportunities this summer through internships all over the country. As the students make their way to their respective job sites, they will be given the opportunity to get their foot in the door for potential careers once out of college.

Summer interns 2012

Tanyan Farley ‘14, will be working here in Houston this summer for TRISTAR Productions. At TRISTAR, Farley will be working with their internship program in various aspects ranging from social media marketing to celebrity relations. Farley would also like to learn the ins and outs of sport licensing and what it takes to put on a memorabilia show, something TRISTAR knows very well.

“The Sport Management program at Rice provided me with the opportunity to get an interview with a top tier sports company like TRISTAR,” Farley said. “They got me in the door and gave me an interview to show the TRISTAR staff what I could bring to the table.”

Farley is not the only Owl working this summer. Molly Mohr ‘15 will be working for IMG College at UTSA Athletics in San Antonio, Texas, as they prepare for the upcoming inaugural UTSA football season. Right now Mohr is developing a charity program that will allow for local business to purchase season tickets. These season tickets will then be given to local charities and hospitals to bring out underprivileged kids to UTSA football games.

“I’m so thankful to be in the Rice Sport Management program,” Mohr said. “Not only does Houston provide a ton of opportunities to intern with various sports teams and organizations, but the professors in the Sport Management program have contacts all across the country, which allows students to compete for internships for virtually any organization that they desire.”

Farley and Mohr are not the only students that have obtained internships this summer. Below is a list of ten students that have also earned internships across the country.
