Matt McCabe '08 has been selected as the sideline reporter for Rice University's radio broadcasts for the 2008 season.
McCabe is nearing the completation pf the 2008 season as the radio play-by-play annoucer for the Eugene Emeralds professional baseball team. In 2007, McCabe was the radio voice of the Binghamton Mets of the Eastern League, which plays at the Class AA level. With the B-Mets, McCabe handled play-by-play as well as color commentary on game broadcasts and was the youngest announcer in the league.
From 2005-08, McCabe was the play-by-play voice of the Rice baseball team. With the Owls, McCabe traveled with the club to the College World Series during the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
McCabe has also served as the play-by-play voice for 2007-08 Houston Baptist University women's basketball team. In 2007, McCabe hosted a high school football sports talk show on Houston's ESPN radio affiliate giving real-time scores and conducting interviews with area coaches and players.
