During the summer of 2022, Jeremy Ghatan '24 served as a tour liaison for Chelsea FC during the English Premier League’s American tour. In this role, he traveled with the team for their training sessions and matches held in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Charlotte, and Orlando.
Before his internship with the team, Ghatan had accumulated experience working with other international clubs such as Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Manchester United. Furthermore, Ghatan's impressive résumé includes prior internships with Professional Sports Partners and Sony Music.
“My journey started with my active participation in the UCLA Soccer training camps and my enthusiastic volunteering for Chelsea during high school," Ghatan said. “It was incredible to have the opportunity to work with this amazing team. It was a completely different level of professionalism.”
Ghatan also mentioned that he credits the success and enjoyment of this internship to the mutual respect that was displayed between himself and the team, serving as a reminder that being professional is key to the sports management industry. Having landed this internship role on his own accord, he emphasizes that it’s important for students to knock on doors, as they never know the opportunities that may come their way.
“The truth is, among the many exceptional opportunities we offer our students, Jeremy's internship wasn't exactly a standard case,” Professor in the Practice Tom Stallings explained. “Instead, he took the initiative to venture out and craft this opportunity for himself.”
