On Thursday, the Rice Sport Management Program, with help from the Rice University Sport Business Alliance, presented Jimmy Comerota this years’ Lindsay Roemmich Sport Management Achievement Award. This award is presented to the graduating senior who not only has been successful in the internships and opportunities provided by the Sport Management program, but they have also given back to the department during their time at Rice.
Jimmy Comerota, ’10, has certainly made his impression on the sport management community. Over his five years, Jimmy has made his mark on the industry through internships with the Houston Aeros in game operations and marketing, the Houston Texans with Battle Red Stampede, and Lone Star Sports and Entertainment in the Operations Department. As TA for SMGT 366, Event and Facility Management, he was one of the most crucial people involved in the first annual Dog-O-Thon held this past October.
Lindsay Martz, formerly Lindsay Roemmich, was in attendance to present Comerota with his award. Martz was nicknamed “The Hammer” during her time at Rice, because of her ability to get tasks done. Jimmy was selected for this award, through a voting process by former winners and the faculty of the Sport Management Department.
