Carrie Potter, an adjunct professor in Rice University’s Department of Sport Management, has recently been named to Houston Business Journal’s “40 under 40” Class of 2017.
Potter founded the Carrie Potter Group LLC in 2006 to manage professional athletes focusing on three priorities. Those priorities are to save their earnings, plan for their future, and give back to the community.
“I was super excited (to be named to the 40 under 40 list) honestly because it is such an amazing honor,” Potter said. “To look at the others and see what they accomplished. It is also very humbling.”
This is Potter’s first time being named to Houston Business Journal’s “40 under 40” list. It is an impressive accomplishment as the list is made up of the 40 most promising businessmen and businesswomen that are 40 years old and younger.
“The best advice I could share is two parts,” Potter said. “One part is being collaborative and relying on help and guidance from people. The other is being a good listener and relying on others. Both go hand in hand.”
Potter is not the only person on the list who works in the sport industry. She is joined by Jennifer Davenport and David Fletcher who works for the Houston Texans and Lone Star Sports & Entertainment respectively.
Perry Goldstein, a junior from Atlanta, Georgia, is double-majoring in Sport Management and Economics.
