Sport Management major, Britany Williams, has accepted an internship with Under Armour, Inc. for the summer of 2010. Williams, Will Rice ’11, worked with Under Armour last summer as a Run Footwear Rookie, and will continue to work in this department starting this June. She will be reporting to Sean Sharpe, the Senior Product Line Manager for Run Footwear. Over 7,000 people applied for a Rookie position at the Under Armour headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland, but only around 30 are chosen for a paid internship from June to August. This will be the second time a Rice sport management student returns to a high profile corporation for consecutive internships.
Last summer, Williams was able to develop a market model for under Armour’s entry into Track and Field. She did so, through extensive research in the target market, and through interviews with consumer and industry personnel. On top of this, she was also a vital member of the winning Innovation Competition judged by senior executives of Under Armour. Her team better defined the Under Armour female consumer demographics for non-cleated footwear.
Williams will be contributing to product management and product creation of the future Run Footwear product lines that will be unveiled this year, through feedback from focus groups and user testing. She also hopes to work more hands-on with the footwear.
Williams is very excited to return to Baltimore, Maryland and become an Under Armour Rookie once again.
