The 2010 Scholar Athlete Banquet was held on February 11, 2010. This event is sponsored by the “R” Association every year to honor those athletes that not only achieve high success within their sports, but achieve the highest standards of academic achievement. Twenty athletes were honored as scholar athletes, and another fifty-three athletes were recognized as being honor athletes.
Among these student athletes thirteen are Sport Management majors, and four of these student athletes were scholar athletes. Jimmy Comerota (Baseball), Trey Stanton (Basketball), Andrew Sendejo (Football), and Simon Bucknell (Cross Country) were the four scholar athletes that are majoring in Sports Management. These student athletes were commended on having a 3.0 grade point average or higher.
These student athletes have worked hard in both their sport and their school work and this comes as no surprise to any students that know them. Not only have these student athletes contributed to their respective teams, but they have also contributed a great amount of time to achieve the highest academic standards possible. Along with this, these student athletes have all done some type of internship through the Sport Management Program in order to better themselves and their resume.
