The Rice Sport Analytics Team (RSAT) is a student-run organization that functions much like an internal analytics department for Rice Athletics. The club features separate student divisions dedicated to supporting Baseball, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Football, Soccer, and Volleyball.
Members of RSAT are actively involved in collecting data, scouting upcoming opponents, and completing sport-specific research projects. Students regularly attend practices and games, communicating directly with coaches and sometimes sitting in the dugout or on the team bench during games. This close collaboration helps coaches make data-informed decisions while giving students true on-the-job experience.
Students work with advanced data sources, including tracking data, event data, and kinematic data from our baseball facilities, to deliver professional-grade insights for varsity coaches. Beyond their on-campus work, RSAT members regularly showcase their skills by winning national analytics hackathons and case competitions against other universities.

If you are a Rice student interested in getting involved with the Rice Sport Analytics Team, contact RSAT President Owen Marye or the Sport Analytics Lead for your sport of interest.
