Sport Management professor Tom Stallings and the Rice University Sport Business Alliance club have been hard at work this semester creating a Sport Management alumni directory. It will include graduates of the program as well as alumni from other majors who have pursued a career in sports. By creating a collaborative directory, they hope to culminate a database to maintain contact with alumni and construct networking opportunities for current Rice undergrads. It is expected to be printed and mailed out in annual installments to participants.
The Sport Management Program places a strong emphasis on work experience, and the professors are very active in assisting students to find intern and full-time positions. Anyone close to the Sport Management program can attest to the tireless effort Professor Stallings dedicates to this. He has achieved success by maintaining strong relationships with alumni of the program, a great resource for students hoping to follow in similar footsteps.
“I learned quickly that Rice alumni are extremely proud of their association with Rice, and that this pride was demonstrated by their eagerness to help out current students in career development,” Stallings said.
He hopes that the creation of the directory will facilitate this interaction between current student and alumni and benefit both parties.
