Matt Baldwin '00 Begins Own Practice

Matt Baldwin '00, a sports agent who specializes in representing coaches and executives, was recently chosen to run his own practice as Chair of Sports and Entertainment at Silverman, Thompson, Slutkin and White, a Baltimore based firm.

"As Chair of the Sports & Entertainment Law Group at Silverman, Thompson, Slutkin & White, LLC (STSW), I am responsible for the management and operation of the law practice, including client acquisition, contract negotiation (coaching or executive employment, broadcasting, marketing, etc.), interview preparation, public relations, third-party networking, etc," said Baldwin.

Coming to STSW after years of industry experience, Baldwin is excited for the new opportunity. He looks forward to the challenge of running his own practice, and has already enjoyed the newfound freedom that accompanies it.

"The motivation for joining STSW stemmed from the opportunity to run my own practice and implement my own vision and ideals," Baldwin said.

During his time at Rice, Baldwin was captain of the football team and an Academic All-American. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Policy Studies. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of Toledo in 2004.

While he reflects fondly on his time at Rice, Baldwin is looking forward. He confirmed that he has already signed over 20 clients at STSW and is excited for what the future has in store.

"The future is bright, and I look forward to building the premier coach and sports executive representation practice in the industry," said Baldwin.
